ETFE, like other melt-processible fluoropolymers, is a moderately soft and pliable plastic resin.
It's service temperature is on the order of 150° C (300° F), depending upon the specific
grade. It features a unique combination of electrical performance, temperature resistance,
tribological properties and chemical resistance. ETFE features excellent UV resistance and has
one of the higher tensile strength ratings of the melt processible family, making it a good
candidate for injection molding applications. ETFE is used commonly to make film for exterior
applications and for use in wire insulation where abrasion resistance and mechanical toughness are
required. It can be readily extruded or injection molded. Colorant-Chromatics ETFE compounds
provide enhanced properties over unfilled grades of ETFE for applications that require special
performance or a combination of performance features.
Carbon fiber reinforced compounds

|
ETFE carbon fiber reinforced compounds feature improved tensile and elongation properties.
They offer good chemical resistance, along with excellent impact strength at cryogenic
temperatures and high temperature resistance. Because of the conductive nature of the carbon
fibers these compound provide low levels of conductivity and static dissipation. These
products are usually injection molded.
|
Titanate fiber reinforced compounds

|
ETFE titanate fiber reinforced compounds are chemically inert, with excellent cryogenic and
high temperature physical properties. Typical applications include extruded components where
abrasion resistance and cut through resistance are required. In addition, these compounds can
be injected molded. Parts made from these compounds feature improved tensile strength and
stiffness. Titanate fiber is a specially produced ceramic type filler.
|
Antistatic compounds for static dissipation

|
ETFE antistatic compounds are used to dissipate static charges by providing
low levels of conductivity in ETFE.
|
Cross-linkable ETFE (XETFE) compounds

|
By blending in a combination of special additives with ETFE, XETFE compounds can be cross
linked when exposed subsequently to electron beam radiation. Cross linked ETFE exhibits
improved cut through resistance, abrasion resistance and mechanical toughness.
Colorant-Chromatics offers off the shelf grades of these special formulations, or alternatively
can produce proprietary XETFE compounds in confidence.
|
X-ray opaque ECTFE compounds

|
These compounds contain various fillers such as barium sulfate that are visible upon exposure
to x-rays. Customized colored compounds are also available.
|
Proprietary Compounds

|
Other compounds made from ETFE using special fillers can be made upon request to answer the
needs for special engineering requirements.
|
Extrusion/processing aid

|
Typical processing benefits are: better surface finish, expanded heat processing window,
elimination of die drool and higher line speeds.
