FEP

Color Concentrates    Compounds    Striping Inks

FEP, like other melt-processible fluoropolymers, is a moderately soft and pliable plastic resin. It's service temperature is 204° C (400° F). It features a unique combination of electrical performance, temperature resistance, tribological properties and chemical resistance. FEP is most commonly used to insulate wires, featuring very low smoke generation and flame propagation properties and superior dielectric constant/insulation performance. Colorant-Chromatics FEP compounds provide enhanced properties over unfilled grades of FEP for applications that require special performance or a combination of performance features.

Titanate fiber reinforced compounds

FEP titanate fiber reinforced compounds are chemically inert, with excellent cryogenic and high temperature physical properties. Typical applications include extruded components where abrasion resistance and cut through resistance are required. Titanate fiber is a specially produced ceramic type filler.

Antistatic compounds for static dissipation

FEP antistatic compounds are used to dissipate static charges by providing low levels of conductivity in FEP.

FEP Foam Concentrates

FEP foam concentrates contain a finely dispersed nucleating agent.

These concentrates are intended to be let down with FEP resin, providing a polymer mix that contains a customized nucleating agent concentration. This polymer mix is in turn extruded into wire insulation or profile shapes creating a construction of foamed FEP. The nucleating agent in this polymer mix provides nucleating sites for bubble formation during the extrusion process.

Foamed FEP provides enhanced electrical properties, reduced cable weight, and FEP material cost. Foamed FEP wire insulations provide a low dielectric constant and a low dissipation factor that permit high frequency signal transmission with minimal distortion.

With foamed FEP wire insulation, void content of greater than 40% and void cell size on the order of 30 microns can be achieved.

X-ray opaque FEP compounds

These compounds contain various fillers such as barium sulfate that are visible upon exposure to x-rays. Customized colored compounds are also available.

Proprietary Compounds

Other compounds made from FEP using special fillers can be made upon request to answer the needs for special engineering requirements.

Extrusion/processing aid

Typical processing benefits are: better surface finish, expanded heat processing window, elimination of die drool and higher line speeds.
